In times of tightening church budgets, underperforming portfolios, and tremendous pressure for Church leaders to take on additional responsibilities across many domains of the parish, leaders need a solutions-oriented approach. Ministers want strategies and solutions to validate quickly and accurately what treasurers and operation managers are telling them. With these tools, Church leaders can more effectively manage the operation, providing better decision-making and successful administration.
In this workshop, participants will learn budget basics so all are speaking a common language when it comes to these concepts. We will learn what it takes to create and execute a budget. Participants will learn how to use tools like Microsoft Excel to develop forecasts, create budgets, and understand the numbers behind the numbers! Included will be instruction on how to forecast with better accuracy. The key component of this workshop is hands-on instruction. The course will use case studies to guide the learning objectives and include lectures, discussions, and interactive tools and techniques based learning.

Who should attend? Workshops are designed for church leaders or staff directly or indirectly responsible for elements of budget and finance. Previous workshop participants have included pastors, church administrators, seminarians, and other church program staff.
How long are the workshops? Workshops are designed to be modular, meaning they can be offered as a 1/2 day session (morning or afternoon), for a one-day period, or multiple days.
Who teaches the workshops? All Academy teachers are subject matter experts and practitioners in the field who are not only knowledgeable on business best practices but also have a background in theology. The Academy’s teachers utilize their engaging personalities to empower participants to achieve their greatest potential as managers.
What happens after I attend a workshop? Participants will have access to the Academy’s continuing education program. This program includes access to the online resource and video library as well as a two-part follow-up webinar series.
